What the site provides

The site publishes free guides and ideas about farmhouse decorating and styling, for general information and personal enjoyment. We work to keep the guides clear and accurate, but we do not promise that every guide is free of errors or that you will get a particular result by following it. Rooms, walls, furniture and light differ from one home to the next, so the measurements in the guides are starting points to check against your own space. Time and difficulty estimates are approximate.

Decorating disclaimer

The content of the site is general decorating information only. It is not professional, structural or electrical advice, it is not renovation or construction guidance, and it does not take your particular home into account. You decide what to do in your home, and you do it at your own risk.

  • Walls, finishes and furniture. Wall construction, paint, finishes and furniture vary. We accept no liability for marks, holes, damaged finishes or any other outcome for walls, finishes, furniture or property that follows from applying an idea found on the site.
  • Fixings and hanging. Choose fixings that suit your wall type and the weight of the object, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for both. The site does not state what any wall, fixing, shelf or piece of furniture can hold.
  • Products and materials. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and the product label for every product, tool, adhesive, paint or finish you use, including any safety and ventilation guidance.
  • Lighting and electrics. Use lamps and other electrical products as their makers instruct. Leave any work that involves wiring to a licensed electrician.
  • Candles and greenery. The guides suggest flameless candles by default. Real flames near dried stems, greenery, paper or fabric are a fire risk, and using them is your own decision and responsibility.
